Why Skate Fenders

Pucks. Sticks. The scramble in front of the net. Your skates take hits all game long. Skate Fenders put a layer of molded polycarbonate between those hits and your feet — so you can keep playing your game.

Engineered for the game

Built to take the hit.

A Skate Fender is a molded polycarbonate shell that sits over the top of your skate. When a puck or stick lands, the shell takes the impact and is designed to deflect it and spread the energy, rather than letting it land on one spot on your foot.

Material
Injection-molded, high-grade, impact-resistant polycarbonate
Purpose
Deflect and dissipate puck and stick impacts on the boot and foot
Form
Lightweight and streamlined, designed to stay out of your stride
Fit
Hook-and-loop straps — on and off in moments
Concept illustration: how the shell handles an impactA puck travels toward the top of a skate. The curved polycarbonate shell sits over the boot, takes the impact, redirects the puck away and spreads the force across the shell rather than into one point on the foot.1 · Impact2 · Redirected3 · Spread across the shell

  • Molded ribs

  • Hook-and-loop straps

    Simple, replaceable attachment

  • Clear shell

    Fits over your existing skates

Straight talk: Skate Fenders add protection from impacts to the skate boot and foot area. They don’t protect against twisting or rotational injuries from collisions with players, nets, benches or boards, and a shell can break under severe impact. Hockey always carries risk.

How it works

Choose your coverage

Extended or targeted.

Both models use the same polycarbonate and the same two sizes. The difference is how much of the foot they cover.

It is the single best piece of equipment I have ever had. I really do not even notice I’m wearing them until my foot is hit or I have to retie my skate.

“He’s playing Bantam 1 hockey in Calgary and has blocked shot after shot with his skates and has laughed them all off.”

“I coach a Junior team so I had 3 of my defensemen wearing them and I wore the other pair. … I am totally impressed with the skatefenders.”
S.M. — Junior team coach and rink co-owner
“I just wanted to thank your company for making your Skate Fenders. My son is 14 playing AAA hockey in GTHL and has been using your product after he blocked a shot 2 years ago and was injured. The Compact Pro Fenders have saved him too many times to mention.”

Built by people who know hockey

Born from the game. Built for the players.

Skate Fenders started with one over-the-hill hockey player’s idea — and grew as a small family business with the help of many people around the game.

We still develop them in partnership with players, coaches and equipment managers of all ages and abilities, from high-level competition to recreational leagues. Their feedback — especially our customers’ — shapes every revision.
